ACSR Conductors

Highly Durable For Overhead Power Transmission

ACSR conductors also known as Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced conductors have high strength, durability and conductivity due to which they are used in overhead power transmission lines and distribution lines. These conductors are made of galvanized steel strands which are surrounded by layers of aluminium strands. The steel core strands provide mechanical support while the aluminium strand ensures an outstanding conductivity.

ACSR Conductor Specifications :-

ACSR Conductors come with various specifications based on their design and application. These ACSR conductors are constructed with Stranded aluminum wires around a central steel core. Even the aluminium and steel ratio varies such as 6:1, 4:1 according to strength and conductivity needs. These conductors have Multi-stranded with different configurations e.g., 7/1, 26/7. They often come in different ranges from small conductors for distribution to large ones for transmission lines. The current carrying capacity varies with size and environmental factors.

The ACSR conductors have higher breaking strength than all-aluminum conductors due to the steel core. These conductors manufactured standards are per ASTM B232, BS EN 50182, or IEC 61089. The corrosion resistance of the ACSR conductors have a Zinc-coated (galvanized) steel core for durability. These conductors are perfect for long-span transmission and high-voltage power lines.

ACSR Conductor Construction :-

ACSR Conductors include a central steel core surrounded by stranded aluminum wires. The steel core present offers mechanical strength, while the aluminum strands ensure high electrical conductivity. The steel core available can be galvanized or aluminum-clad for corrosion resistance. Even the ACSR conductors are available in different stranding configurations to meet various electrical and mechanical client requirements.

ACSR Conductor Category

ACSR Conductors are categorized according to their aluminum-to-steel ratio, strength, and application. The main ACSR Conductor categories are .

Types

1. Standard ACSR

2. ACSR/AW (Aluminum-Clad Steel Reinforced)

3. ACSR/GA (Galvanized ACSR)

4. ACSR/AS (Aluminum-Coated Steel Reinforced)

5. ACSR/HS (High-Strength ACSR

Details

1.These types of ACSR Conductors are composed of aluminum strands around a steel core and are mainly used in overhead transmission and distribution lines.

2. These types of ACSR Conductors feature an aluminum-clad steel core for enhanced corrosion resistance and suitable for coastal and high-moisture areas.

3. These types of ACSR Conductors use galvanized steel cores to resist rust and corrosion and are best suited for standard transmission applications.

4. These conductors are steel core coated with aluminum for increased longevity and best suitable for environments requiring higher corrosion resistance.

5. These conductors are designed for longer spans with higher mechanical tension and mainly used in high-voltage transmission lines.
