XLPE Power Cables

Perfect Electrical Solution for Modern Use

XLPE Power Cables are known as cross linked polyethylene power cables which are used in modern electrical systems. These cables are designed for power transmission and distribution due to outstanding insulation properties, resistance to moisture, and high durability. These XLPE power cable properties make them a perfect solution for underground, overhead, and industrial applications. Additionally, these power cables have various voltage ranges from low to extra-high voltage that ensure safe energy transmission in various industries like utilities, renewable energy, and heavy industries.

XLPE Power Cables Specifications

The XLPE Power Cables are used in underground, overhead, and industrial applications due to their high thermal resistance, excellent electrical properties, and superior mechanical strength ensuring reliability and safety in power distribution networks. For the Conductors the material used is copper and aluminum with solid or stranded construction while keeping IEC 60228 / IS 8130 standards. While in the Insulation the material used is Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE) with the operating temperature continuous up to 90°C and short circuit up to 250°C (for 5 seconds). Even the dielectric strength is high insulation resistance.

The core configuration of XLPE power cables includes Single Core and Multi-Core (2, 3, 3.5, 4 Core). The Metallic Screen (For Medium and High Voltage Cables) are made of Copper Tape or Copper Wires materials by providing grounding and protects against electromagnetic interference (EMI). The Inner Sheath material used is PVC, LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen), or FR (Flame Retardant) to provide protection against moisture and mechanical stress.

The Armoring for Armored Cables material used is Galvanized Steel Wire (For Multi-Core) / Aluminum Wire (For Single-Core) to enhance the mechanical protection. The Outer Sheath material is PVC, HDPE, LSZH and they are available in Black, Red, or as per requirement colors and also Flame Retardancy is available as per the requirement. The voltage ratings are Low Voltage (LV): 1.1 kV, Medium Voltage (MV): 3.3 kV – 33 kV, High Voltage (HV): 66 kV – 220 kV and Extra High Voltage (EHV): 220 kV – 400 kV. The standards and certifications XLPE Power Cables have IEC 60502 (LV & MV Cables), IS 7098 (Indian Standard), BS 5467 (British Standard), IEEE 383 (Flame Retardancy) and ASTM & ISO Compliant.
